They achieved this competitive advantage, because they do not spend much on advertising – they rely on positive word of mouth – that’s why good reputation is so important for them – they assure the response on claims to be quick and the staff to be as trained and therefore helpful as possible. What is more, they have only low risk customers, whose track record as a driver is quite clear.

The contract is tailored to the needs of their clients – they can choose which of the ten options they want their policy to cover. They also are free to choose the payment plan – pay in full or three and nine payments, in which case they will have to add additional service charge to each installment and the requirement is the total annual policy premium to be at least $300.

There are up to 20% discounts for good and mature drivers – who have not been involved in a car accident for at least six years or have never received any traffic tickets. The discount is also for those customers who have two or more cars or a car and a house insured in the Wawanesa insurance.

However, Wawanesa auto insurance has its drawbacks – it is limited in the US territory and only insures those, who, in their point of view, are good drivers. The company saves money by not hiring local agents and that’s why the customers have to deal with the company’s office directly. The sign up process is slow – new clients will have to fill in the application form and then mail them to their office. No online service causes customers’ dissatisfaction and they are right – Wawanesa was founded more than a century ago, but its 21st century today – the century of internet.
